Enable Depth of Field to Focus on Specific Blocks or Mobs

Activate Depth of Field

Depth of field (DOF) is a camera effect that keeps your focal point sharp while blurring the background and foreground. This is useful for highlighting a specific mob, building detail, or item.

1. Open your shader settings menu (usually accessed via a keybind in your controls or through the shader options screen)

2. Look for Depth of Field or DOF settings

3. Enable the toggle to activate the effect

4. Adjust the focus distance slider to control how far from your camera the sharp zone sits

5. Fine-tune the blur strength to make the background softer or crisper depending on your preference

Using DOF for Gameplay vs. Screenshots

For regular play, keep DOF subtle—a light blur helps reduce visual clutter without making navigation difficult. When taking screenshots or recording, increase the blur intensity for a more cinematic, professional look. The effect works best when you're looking at a single subject; aim your camera so the subject is roughly in the center of your screen for optimal focus.
