Reduce Render Distance

In Options → Video Settings, lower your render distance to 8-12 chunks. This is the single most impactful setting for frame rate on potato hardware. Simply Shaded is designed to run efficiently, but reducing what the GPU must render helps significantly.

Disable Advanced Graphics Features

Within shader options, look for toggles related to shadow quality, ambient occlusion, or reflections. Disabling or lowering these features preserves the colored lighting effect while cutting computational load. Keep the core glow mechanic enabled—it's lightweight.

Lower Video Settings

Set Graphics to Fast, disable Smooth Lighting if it causes lag, and turn off Particles or set them to minimal. Reduce Biome Blend to off or low.

Monitor Performance

Press F3 to view your FPS counter. Aim for consistent 60+ FPS by adjusting render distance and shader options incrementally. Simply Shaded prioritizes performance, so you should see playable framerates even on older systems once optimized.
