Compatibility Basics

BTB Back to Basics works with most resource packs, but some combinations create visual conflicts. The shader's retro filter applies on top of your pack's textures, so texture choice matters.

Choosing Compatible Packs

Simple, low-detail resource packs work best with BTB shaders. Packs designed for vanilla Minecraft or retro aesthetics complement the PS1 look naturally. Avoid highly detailed or photorealistic packs—they clash with the shader's intentional simplification.

Test your combination in a small area first. Build a simple structure with different blocks and observe how textures appear under the shader.

Adjusting Pack Settings

If your chosen pack has customization options, disable features like:

  • High-resolution textures (they become blurry under the shader anyway)
  • Complex normal maps or parallax effects
  • Overly saturated colors

Load Order

Make sure your resource pack loads *after* the shader in your settings. This ensures the shader properly processes the pack's textures. If colors still look wrong, try loading the pack *before* the shader instead—some packs work better this way.

Experiment with different combinations to find your preferred visual style.
