Realistic Woods shines at close range, which makes interiors the best place to use it. Furniture built from small wood pieces lets players see the grain, knots, and color shifts up close.
Build at Player Scale
- Tables: use a fence post or wall block as a leg and a slab or trapdoor as the top. The trapdoor's plank texture reads as a tabletop surface.
- Chairs: a stair block for the seat plus a sign or trapdoor for the backrest. Keep the wood species consistent within one piece of furniture.
- Shelves: place upside-down stairs against a wall and put items on top. The stair's side texture becomes the shelf edge.
Use Contrast Inside
- Floors in one species, walls in another, ceiling trim in a third gives each surface a distinct grain without any single one dominating.
- Stripped logs make good interior columns and bed frames because their texture is cleaner than full logs.
- Doors and trapdoors act as focal points. Pick a species that contrasts with the surrounding wall so the hardware detail stands out.
Light It Properly
Interior detail disappears in shadow. Place light sources at multiple heights and avoid burying them behind blocks. Walk through the room at night with no daylight leaking in to confirm the grain is still readable.
