If the interface still looks bright after enabling the pack, work through these checks in order.

Verify the Pack Is Actually Enabled

1. Open Options, then Resource Packs.

2. Find Default Dark Mode in the left (available) column and move it to the right (selected) column.

3. Make sure it sits *above* any other pack that also edits GUI textures, otherwise the other pack wins.

4. Click Done and let the game reload.

If Only Some Parts Are Dark

  • Another resource pack may be overriding specific GUI files. Move Default Dark Mode to the top of the selected list.
  • Mods that add their own custom menus (quest books, config screens, custom HUDs) draw their own textures and won't be darkened by this pack. That's normal — the pack only covers vanilla interface elements.

If Nothing Changes at All

  • Confirm the pack version matches your game version. A mismatched pack may load but apply nothing.
  • Try disabling all other packs temporarily to isolate conflicts.
  • Restart the game fully rather than just reloading resources.

Note on Shaders and Other Visual Mods

Shader packs and UI mods generally don't conflict, but a UI overhaul mod will. Pick one interface-changing pack at a time.
