Understand Texture Layering

The Expansion Pack works by providing dark-themed textures that override mod GUIs. To customize the appearance, you can create your own resource pack that layers on top.

Create a Custom Overlay Pack

1. Create a new folder in resourcepacks/ with a descriptive name

2. Add a pack.mcmeta file with basic metadata

3. Mirror the folder structure: assets/[modname]/textures/gui/

4. Place your custom texture files in the matching paths

5. In Options → Resource Packs, position your custom pack above the Expansion Pack

Apply Your Changes

1. Reload textures with F3 + T or restart Minecraft

2. Open modded GUIs to see your custom textures applied

3. Adjust individual textures as needed and reload

Keep Base Packs Intact

Don't modify the original Default Dark Mode or Expansion Pack directly. Using a separate overlay pack lets you update the base packs without losing your customizations.
