Understanding Item Permanence

Novelty items in this pack use standard Minecraft items as their base—meaning they're functionally identical to regular items, but with custom textures applied. This creates a critical limitation: once you interact with them in certain ways, their custom appearance is lost permanently.

Actions That Destroy Custom Properties

Placing novelty blocks like signs or sponges in the world will replace their custom texture with the standard block appearance. Eating novelty food items consumes them entirely, destroying both the item and its special look. These actions cannot be undone.

Safe Storage Practices

Keep novelty items in your inventory or storage containers rather than placing them in the world. Store collectible trading cards in item frames or display cases without placing them as blocks. For novelty potions, keep them in your inventory until you're ready to drink them—drinking is the intended use and won't cause texture loss.

Display Without Risk

Use item frames to showcase rare items and paintings on walls. This preserves their custom appearance while displaying them decoratively.
