The Sound of Rain Mod overhauls both rain and thunder audio during these events, replacing vanilla thunder with more dynamic and immersive sounds.
Listen for Layered Thunder Effects
The mod's thunder system includes multiple audio layers—distant rumbles, sharp cracks, and echoing booms that simulate realistic storm behavior. Position yourself outdoors during the storm to hear the full effect. Thunder sounds will appear to originate from different directions based on where lightning strikes relative to your position.
Combine with Rain Surface Sounds
During a thunderstorm, you'll hear both the enhanced thunder and the material-specific rain sounds layering together. Stand under different roof types—wood, metal, or glass—to hear how rain impacts change while thunder rumbles overhead. This creates an immersive, dynamic soundscape.
