Understanding the Optimization System
The mod uses an optimized bullet tracing system designed to keep your frame rate stable even during rapid gunfire with multiple lighting effects active. This system automatically manages how many light calculations occur per frame.
Reducing Performance Impact
If you experience frame rate drops during combat:
1. Open the in-game mod options menu
2. Lower the muzzle flash brightness preset to half or off
3. Test your frame rate in a dark area with sustained gunfire
4. Adjust further if needed
Best Practices for Smooth Combat
- Bullet trails are less performance-intensive than muzzle flashes; you can disable flashes while keeping trails
- Avoid firing in extremely large open areas at night, as many simultaneous lighting effects compound
- If using a lower-end machine, use the half-brightness preset as a balance between visuals and performance
- The mod automatically skips bows and crossbows, so switching to those weapons won't impact lighting calculations
