Question 1

How do I access the map after installing the mod?

Accepted Answer

Open your web browser and navigate to http://your-server-ip:8080 (or whatever port you configured). The map will load a top-down view of your world in vanilla map style.

Question 2

The map won't load, what should I check?

Accepted Answer

First, verify the mod started without errors by checking your server console/logs. Then confirm you're using the correct IP and port in your browser URL. If your server host restricts ports, contact them to ensure port 8080 (or your configured port) is available.

Question 3

Can I change the port the map runs on?

Accepted Answer

Yes, edit the configuration file generated in your mods/plugins folder and change the port setting to your preferred number. After saving, stop and restart your server for the change to take effect.

Question 4

Does Squaremap work on single player worlds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the mod works on both multiplayer servers and single player worlds. Install it the same way and access the map through your browser.

Question 5

Can I view the Nether and End dimensions on the map?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Squaremap can render multiple dimensions. Check your configuration file for dimension settings and enable the dimensions you want to view, then restart your server.

Question 6

Why is the map not updating in real-time?

Accepted Answer

The map updates based on your configured render interval. If changes aren't appearing, try refreshing your browser or check the configuration to adjust how frequently the map re-renders.

Question 7

Is Squaremap compatible with my server software?

Accepted Answer

Squaremap supports Paper, Sponge, Forge, and Fabric. Place the jar file in the appropriate directory for your server type (plugins folder for Paper/Sponge, mods folder for Forge/Fabric).

Question 8

Do I need to do a full server restart after changing config settings?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you should stop and fully restart your server after editing the configuration file, as a simple reload may not apply all changes properly.

Question 9

Will Squaremap slow down my server?

Accepted Answer

No, Squaremap is designed to be lightweight and minimalistic with ultra-fast render times, so it has minimal impact on server performance.

Question 10

Can players access the map from their phones or other devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes, any device with a web browser can access the map by visiting the server IP and port URL, making it useful for navigation on multiplayer servers.
