From Candy to Sword

The Sword of Defense is the melee weapon of the Defense tier. To make it, first craft a Candy of Defense, then use that candy in the sword recipe. The sword is a shaped crafting recipe, so arrange the candy and your stick or handle material in the pattern the recipe book shows.

If you want a matching set, the same Candy of Defense is the shared ingredient for every Defense item:

Scaling Up Production

Craft a stack of Candy of Defense before you start on the armor pieces, because the chestplate and leggings each consume candy individually. When you have surplus, combine candies into a Condensed Candy of Defense block for storage. If you later need more candies, the block can be broken back down. The Defense line has no Toolrod requirement, so you can go straight from Candy of Defense to any Defense tool or armor piece without an intermediate handle item.
