What Changes for Mobs

Passable Foliage does not only affect the player — mobs treat foliage as passable too. Animals can wander through bushes and leaf blocks, and hostile mobs can path through them when chasing or fleeing. This changes how pens, farms, and mob traps behave.

Adjusting Your Builds

1. If you keep animals in a pen, do not use leaf blocks as the fence. Use solid blocks, fences, or walls instead, or the animals will walk out.

2. If you want animals to move between two areas through foliage, leave a leaf block gap in an otherwise solid barrier — they will use it as a doorway.

3. For mob farms, remember that mobs can enter through leaf walls, so seal any leaf openings you do not want them to use.

4. For traps, you can use foliage as a one-way-looking entrance that mobs will path into, then close it behind them with a solid block.

Testing Behaviour

Build a small test pen with a leaf wall and watch how animals and mobs move. If they pass through when you do not want them to, replace the leaves with a solid block. If you want them to pass, keep the leaves and remove any solid blocks in the way.
