How to Hatch an Ostrich Egg with the Ostrich Nest

Build the Nest

Place an Ostrich Nest block where you want the chick to hatch. The nest is the only block in this mod that processes an Ostrich Egg, so it must be placed before you do anything else. Keep it on solid ground and clear of water, since the egg needs to sit on the nest itself.

Get and Place the Egg

Obtain an Ostrich Egg from an Ostrich (spawn one with an Ostrich Spawn Egg if you have not found one in the world). Right-click the Ostrich Nest with the Ostrich Egg to set it in place. Once the egg is on the nest, leave the area loaded so the nest can work. When the egg finishes, a baby ostrich appears on or beside the nest.

Raise the Ostrich

Feed and protect the hatchling until it grows. Adult ostriches are the source of Raw Ostrich Meat, which you can cook three ways: smelting, smoking, or campfire_cooking into Cooked Ostrich Meat. Use Cooked Ostrich Meat as a reliable food item while you build out the rest of your Living Things collection.

• One Ostrich Nest handles one Ostrich Egg at a time.
• Keep the nest lit and mob-proof so nothing destroys the egg.
• If you want more ostriches, repeat the nest-and-egg process rather than waiting on a single bird.
