Setting Up the Farm
To create a self-sustaining Ender Pearl farm, you first need a reliable source of
Ender Seeds. Craft them as described in the basic guide. Then, design a farm plot. A simple approach is to make a rectangular area of farmland with a water source in the center or along one edge. Plant your Ender Seeds in rows. Because the crop behaves like a normal plant, you can use standard farming techniques: ensure light level is sufficient, and consider using a block like a lily pad or a waterlogged slab to keep water from flowing over the farmland.
Automating Harvest
For automatic harvesting, you can use a mechanical harvester from another mod, or build a vanilla-style observer and piston setup. Place an observer facing the crop so it detects when the crop's block state changes (i.e., when it matures). Connect the observer to a piston that pushes the mature crop, breaking it and dropping the Ender Pearls. You can then collect the drops with a hopper system leading to a chest. Alternatively, use a minecart with hopper running underneath the farmland to pick up items. Remember that Ender Pearls are not affected by gravity, so they will stay where they drop until collected. This setup allows you to harvest continuously without manual intervention, provided you replant the seeds. You can also use a dispenser with bone meal to speed up growth if you have a surplus.
