Set Up Your JSON File
Create a new file at assets/yournamespace/datatip/datatip.json inside your resource pack folder. This is where all your tooltip definitions live.
Define Your First Tooltip
Start with a simple structure:
`json
{
"tooltips": [
{
"match": "minecraft:diamond_sword",
"lines": [
{
"text": "A powerful blade",
"color": "#FF5733"
},
{
"text": "Deals extra damage",
"color": "#FFFFFF",
"bold": true
}
]
}
]
}
`
Replace yournamespace with your mod or pack name. Use the match field to target item IDs exactly.
Apply and Test
Press F3 + T or run /reload in-game to refresh your resource packs. Hover over the matched item in your inventory to see your custom text appear with your chosen colors and formatting.
