The Four Stone Families

Darker Depths gives you four full stone families: Aridrock, Darkslate, Duskrock, and Grimestone. Each one has a base block, a Bricks variant, and a full set of shapes — Slab, Stairs, Vertical Slab, Wall, and Pillar — plus Chiseled and Cracked variants. Arid Deepslate is a separate block that sits alongside Aridrock.

Using the Stonecutter

Most of these shapes come from stonecutting. Put the base block — Aridrock, Darkslate, Duskrock, or Grimestone — into a stonecutter and cut it into Bricks, Slab, Stairs, Vertical Slab, Wall, or Pillar. Cracked variants are also produced through stonecutting, so you do not need a furnace to get the cracked look. Chiseled Bricks are a separate cut from the same base block.

Mixing the Palette

Do not build a whole room out of one family. Use Darkslate as the floor, Grimestone as the walls, and Aridrock Bricks as the trim. Vertical Slabs let you build thin pillars that read differently from full Pillar blocks. Mossy Grimestone is available if you want a weathered variant of the Grimestone set. For a ruined look, mix Cracked Darkslate Bricks with regular Darkslate Bricks and cap the wall with Darkslate Bricks Wall.
