Check Your Word List

Open ModMenu and verify that the word you expect to highlight is actually in your configuration list. Confirm the spelling matches exactly—the mod is case-sensitive, so "Alert" and "alert" are different.

Verify the Highlight Color

Ensure your highlight color is visible against your chat background. If the color is too similar to your text or background, highlights may be invisible. Try changing to a brighter, more contrasting color.

Test with a Known Word

Add a simple, common word temporarily (like your username) and ask a friend to type it in chat. If it highlights, your mod works—the issue is with your specific word choice.

Check Mod Compatibility

Some chat mods or resource packs may interfere with highlighting. Try disabling other chat-related mods temporarily to isolate the problem.

Reload Your Configuration

Close and reopen ModMenu to ensure your settings were saved properly. Sometimes changes don't apply until you refresh the menu.
