How do I make my first stew in Caupona?
Place a Clay Pot on a heat source, add water and ingredients, and let it cook into a soup. Once it's done, you can serve it into a Bowl or pour it into a Bread Bowl to carry it with you.
How do I get a heat source for cooking?
You need a lit fire under your pot, such as a Brick Stove, Brick Hypocaust Firebox, or a Clay Portable Brazier for cooking on the go. The Brick Chimney Flue and Chimney Pot let you vent smoke from an indoor stove setup.
Why isn't my stew cooking?
The most common cause is no active heat beneath the pot, or the pot isn't a valid cooking vessel for that recipe. Make sure the fire is actually lit and the pot is placed directly on or above the heat source.
What's the difference between a soup, a stew, and an aspic?
Soups and stews are the cooked liquid dishes you make in a pot, while aspic is a jellied form made by setting a stew with Bone Gelatin. Aspic holds its shape, making it handy for portable meals and decoration.
How do I make aspic from leftover stew?
Add Bone Gelatin to a finished stew and let it set, turning the liquid into a solid jellied block. You can then eat it directly or use it as a decorative food block.
How do I get Bone Gelatin?
Bone Gelatin is produced by processing bones, typically by boiling them down in a pot. It's the key ingredient that turns liquid stews into aspics.
How do Bread Bowls work?
A Bread Bowl is an edible container you can fill with soup or stew to make a portable meal like Bisque in Bread Bowl or Borscht in Bread Bowl. You can carry and eat it without needing a separate Bowl.
Can I carry soup with me while exploring?
Yes — pour your stew into a Bread Bowl to make a portable meal you can eat on the move. Regular Bowls work too, but Bread Bowls double as the container and part of the meal.
What are the architectural blocks for?
Caupona adds decorative building pieces like Column Capitals, Plinths, Shafts, Lacunar Tiles, Spoked Fences, and Mosaic Pieces in Calcite, Quartz, Stone, and Felsic Tuff variants. They're purely cosmetic and let you build Roman-style or classical architecture around your kitchen.
Does Caupona work with other food or cooking mods?
Caupona is designed around its own pot, stove, and stew system, so other mods' foods generally won't plug into its recipes unless a compatibility patch exists. You can still run them side by side, but expect each mod's cooking to stay in its own lane.
