Converting Chests Between Tiers

Upgrade items are the core mechanic of this mod. Each upgrade converts a chest of one tier into the next tier up: Wood to Copper, Copper to Iron, Iron to Gold, Gold to Diamond, and then Diamond branches into either Crystal or Obsidian. That branching means Diamond is the decision point, and you choose which endgame chest you want.

Upgrades are applied to an existing chest rather than crafted into a new one, so the contents and position carry over. This makes upgrading safe for chests already in use.

Trapped variants exist for Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Crystal, Obsidian, and the DirtChest 9000!. They function like trapped chests in vanilla behavior, which matters for redstone builds. The upgrade items themselves are separate objects, so you can hold or trade them before applying them to a chest.
