Understanding the Chest Tiers
Iron Chests adds a ladder of storage blocks, each tier offering more capacity than the last. The progression runs from Wood through Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Crystal, and finally Obsidian, with the
DirtChest 9000! sitting outside that chain as a novelty option. Every tier exists as a normal chest and, for most tiers, a trapped variant that behaves like a trapped vanilla chest.
Because the tiers are strictly ordered, the practical goal is to climb the ladder rather than collect every chest. You start with a basic wooden chest and work upward, replacing each chest as your storage needs grow. Higher tiers hold more items in the same footprint, so upgrading is about density, not just prestige.
The DirtChest 9000! is the odd one out. It is not part of the upgrade path and exists as a joke block, so treat it as a curiosity rather than a storage solution.
