What the mod actually changes
Hold My Items replaces the vanilla first-person model so your equipped item appears gripped by a visible hand instead of floating in front of the camera. This applies to tools, weapons, and especially the items the mod calls out: crossbows, bows, and tridents. If you still see a floating item, the mod is either not loaded for that item category or another mod is overriding the first-person renderer.
Getting a clean result
1. Equip the item in your main hand and switch to first person. The hand should wrap around the grip rather than the item hovering.
2. If the item still floats, check for other first-person or animation mods in your pack. Two mods editing the same renderer will fight, and the last one loaded usually wins.
3. Test with a bow, a crossbow, and a trident specifically, since these are the headline supported items. If those work but a modded sword does not, the issue is that item's model, not the mod.
4. Adjust your FOV and hand size in Options if the hand looks too large or clips into the screen edge. Lower FOV reduces distortion at the edges.
When it looks wrong
Clipping into blocks or the hotbar usually means a conflicting HUD or hand-position mod. Remove one at a time to isolate it. If only some items misbehave, note which ones and report them, since item-specific rendering is the mod's core feature.
