Identifying Ores and Resources in All-White Terrain
Recognizing Ore Blocks by Shape
Without color, you must learn to spot ores by their texture patterns and block geometry. Each ore type has a distinct surface pattern—look for the unique speckled or crystalline shapes embedded in stone rather than relying on color differences.
Systematic Mining Strategy
When mining, pay close attention to subtle texture variations in the stone around you. Iron, gold, diamond, and other ores maintain their characteristic surface details even when rendered white. Mine methodically and compare blocks side-by-side in your inventory to confirm what you've collected.
Using Your Inventory
When uncertain about a block or ore, place it in your inventory and examine it from different angles. The item model often shows more detail than the block texture alone. Cross-reference unfamiliar items against your crafting recipes—knowing what you need helps you identify what you've found.
Lighting and Shadows
Use torches and different lighting angles to your advantage. Shadows and shading reveal texture depth that flat white surfaces hide. Mine near bright light sources to maximize visual contrast in the ore's surface pattern.
