Configure Shadow Quality and Softness
Open Shadow Settings
Access the Flux Shaders menu and navigate to the shadows section. This controls how shadows appear under trees, buildings, and terrain features.
Adjust Shadow Parameters
Modify these key settings:
- Shadow Distance: Determines how far from the player shadows are rendered. Increase for shadows across a wider area, or decrease to improve performance.
- Shadow Softness: Controls edge blur on shadows. Higher values create softer, more cinematic shadows; lower values produce sharper, more defined edges.
- Shadow Intensity: Adjusts how dark shadows appear. Increase for more dramatic contrast, decrease for subtle shading.
Optimize for Performance and Aesthetics
Test your changes in different environments—under tree canopies, near tall structures, and in open areas. Soft shadows work best for a semi-realistic look while maintaining the blocky aesthetic. If you experience frame rate drops, reduce shadow distance or softness. For best results, balance shadow quality against your hardware capabilities. The soft shadow effect is one of Flux Shaders' strengths, so moderate settings usually provide good visual impact without heavy performance cost.
