Why Friendship Matters
Bees in the Bumblezone track a friendship value with you. Higher friendship makes bees more helpful and less likely to sting, and it gates some interactions with the dimension's mobs and blocks. Treating bees well is the core loop of the mod.
Raising Friendship
- Feed bees. Holding flowers or honey-related food and interacting with a bee raises its opinion of you.
- Avoid harming bees. Killing or hitting a bee drops friendship and can aggro nearby swarms.
- Protect hives. Breaking filled hives or brood blocks carelessly upsets the local bees.
- Help bee-adjacent mobs. Interacting peacefully with Honey Slimes and similar creatures keeps the area calm.
Reading the Signals
When bees are friendly they will follow you, hover near you, and tolerate you harvesting honey. If they start bumping into you aggressively or a swarm forms, you have upset them — back off, stop attacking, and let the anger cool before trying to feed them again.
Practical Tips
Carry a stack of flowers so you always have a friendship tool on hand. If you plan to farm honey or wax, raise friendship first so harvesting does not trigger a defensive response from the hive's residents.
