Gathering Gold
Collect gold ingots from mining, smelting, or trading. You'll need enough gold to meaningfully upgrade your shield—the exact amount depends on how much you want to improve it.
Performing the Upgrade
Take your crafted shield and combine it with gold in a crafting interface or anvil. The upgrade process enhances your shield's stats, making it more effective in combat. Different shields respond differently to gold upgrades—some gain better damage reduction, others improve attack power or special effects.
Maximizing Your Investment
Upgrade shields you plan to use regularly. A well-upgraded shield suited to your combat style will serve you far better than multiple unupgraded shields. Consider upgrading before tackling difficult areas or boss-like Hexxit creatures. You can upgrade the same shield multiple times if you have enough gold, progressively making it more powerful as you progress through the mod's content.
