Understanding the Feral Lantern

The Feral Lantern creates dramatic lighting by spawning sparks that illuminate a giant area around it. Once enough sparks have been generated and the area is fully lit, the lantern vanishes.

Crafting the Feral Lantern

Collect catalysts from: Glowstone, Jack o' Lantern, Fire Charge, Blaze Powder, or Gold Ingot. Consult JEI for the exact recipe combination. Place catalysts on the Lantern Maker, then add a vanilla lantern on top.

Using the Feral Lantern

1. Place the Feral Lantern in an area you want temporarily lit

2. Watch as it spawns sparks and illuminates the surroundings

3. The lantern will automatically disappear once its job is complete

Best Practices

Use Feral Lanterns for temporary lighting during construction or exploration. They're ideal when you need quick illumination without permanent fixtures. Since they vanish after use, they're not suitable for long-term base lighting—use regular lanterns for that instead.
