Xray Java Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the Xray resource pack?
Open your resource pack menu in Settings, find Xray Java Resource Pack in the Available packs list, and click the arrow to move it to Active packs. The pack activates immediately once you confirm your selection.
Why can't I see mobs or water when using Xray?
The pack is designed to keep mobs, liquids, and chests visible so you don't accidentally walk into lava or lose track of enemies underground. Only stone, deepslate, and netherrack turn transparent—everything else stays solid.
Does Xray work in the Nether?
Yes, the pack makes netherrack transparent in the Nether dimension, so you can spot ancient debris and other valuable ores just as easily as you would in the Overworld.
Does Xray slow down my game?
No, the pack is lightweight and designed to run smoothly without impacting performance. It simply changes textures rather than adding new processing demands.
What blocks does Xray make transparent?
Stone, deepslate, and netherrack become see-through. All ore blocks—diamonds, gold, redstone, iron, coal, ancient debris, and others—remain fully solid and visible.
How do I turn off Xray temporarily without uninstalling it?
Open your resource pack menu, find Xray Java Resource Pack in Active packs, and click the arrow to move it back to Available packs. You can reactivate it anytime the same way.
Will Xray work with other resource packs?
Yes, you can stack Xray with other packs in your Active packs list. The order matters—place Xray above or below other packs depending on which textures you want to prioritize.
Does Xray reveal ores inside caves and ravines?
Yes, since caves and ravines are carved from stone and deepslate, making those blocks transparent automatically reveals any ores inside them.
Can I use Xray in Creative mode?
Yes, the pack works in any game mode. It's useful in Creative for planning builds or locating specific structures, though the transparency is most helpful for mining in Survival mode.
