Using WorldEdit Brushes to Sculpt Terrain as You Walk

What a brush does

A brush turns your normal tool use into a terrain edit. You bind a brush to an item in your hand, then each time you use that item it applies the brush effect at the block you are looking at. This is how people carve caves, raise hills, and smooth ground without typing a command for every change.

Binding and configuring

Bind a brush type to your held item, then set its radius. A small radius is good for detail work; a larger radius moves a lot of blocks at once and is easy to overdo. Some brushes let you set which block they place, so decide that before you start. You can change the radius at any time without rebinding.

Practical sculpting tips

Work in small passes and step back often to look at the shape from a distance. For terrain, a smoothing or gravity-style brush helps blend edges so the result does not look like stacked cubes. If a brush is placing blocks you did not intend, check the block setting first. When you are finished, clear the brush from the item so normal use does not keep editing the world.
