Fixing Common WorldEdit Mistakes: Undo, Limits, and Permissions

Undoing a bad edit

The most important command to know is undo. Every edit you make is recorded, so if a replace, paste, or brush goes wrong, undo it right away before making other changes. Repeated undo steps back through your edit history. Redo reverses an undo if you went too far. Get in the habit of undoing immediately rather than trying to patch a mistake manually.

Hitting block limits

Servers often cap how many blocks a single command can change. If a command refuses to run or only partly applies, your selection is probably larger than the allowed limit. Shrink the selection, split the work into several smaller edits, or raise the limit if you have permission. Brushes are also affected, so a very large brush radius may silently do less than you expect.

Permission problems

If commands do nothing or you get an error, you likely lack permission for that action. Some servers restrict WorldEdit to certain ranks or limit which commands are available. Ask whoever runs the server which commands your rank can use. Also check that you are actually in the region you think you are; editing outside your allowed area will be blocked.
