Wizards FAQ
20 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with the Wizards Mod?
Craft a
Novice Wand first, since it's the entry-level casting tool that lets you try magic before committing to a full elemental set. From there, work toward an elemental robe set and staff so your spells actually scale with your gear.

Wands are your basic casting tool and are generally cheaper and faster, while staves hit harder and are usually the upgrade you aim for once you have the materials. Both come in arcane, fire, frost, and netherite variants, so pick the element that matches your robe set.
How do I cast spells with a wand or staff?
Hold the wand or staff and right-click to cast; the spell fired depends on which elemental variant you're holding. Wearing the matching robe set boosts the spells from that element, so mixing a
fire staff with frost robes wastes your damage.

You can cast with just a wand or staff, but the robe, hat, and boots of the matching element are what give you the full set bonus and better spell output. Wearing mismatched pieces means you lose those bonuses even though casting still functions.
How do I upgrade my wizard gear to netherite?
Netherite versions exist for every elemental set — arcane, fire, and frost — plus their staves and wands, and they're the top tier of each line. You'll need the base elemental piece and netherite-tier materials to upgrade, so build out a full elemental set before chasing netherite.
What are the Crystal Arcane Staff, Ruby Fire Staff, and
Smaragdant Frost Staff?
These are the special upgraded staves for each element, sitting above the standard staff in power. They're the endgame casting tools for arcane, fire, and frost builds respectively, so aim for them once you've maxed out your elemental gear.
How do I fight the Fire Hydra, Frost Elemental, and Arcane Emitter?
Each mob is tied to an element, so bring gear that matches or counters it — frost gear against the Fire Hydra, for example, and fire or arcane against the Frost Elemental. The Arcane Emitter is more of a stationary threat, so watch for its ranged attacks rather than trying to trade hits up close.
Where do I find the mod's mobs and bosses?
The Fire Hydra, Frost Elemental, and Arcane Emitter spawn in their respective elemental environments, so explore fire-themed, ice-themed, and arcane-themed areas. Bring your full elemental loadout before engaging, since these fights punish under-geared players.
Why isn't my spell doing much damage?
The most common cause is mismatched gear — a
fire staff with frost robes, or a wand without the matching set. Make sure your wand or staff, robe top and bottom, hat, and boots all share the same element, and upgrade to netherite if you're still hitting weakly.

It's a content mod adding armor, weapons, and a few mobs, so it generally plays fine alongside other mods unless they conflict over the same items or mob spawns. Performance impact is light in normal play; if you notice lag, it's usually from many mobs loaded at once rather than the gear itself.

How do you use a staff in the Wizards Mod?
Spells must be applied to a wand or staff at a Spell Binding Table before use, and casting still requires Runes. With a staff, a Spell Bar appears near the hotbar that you open with the Z key, then use the scroll wheel to pick a spell and press Z again to return to the normal hotbar.
