Weapons Expanded FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What weapon should I craft first?
Start with a Broadsword or Hatchet—they use the same materials as regular swords and axes but offer better speed or utility. Once you have basic resources, experiment with weapons that match your playstyle: faster weapons like the Sickle for hit-and-run combat, or slower ones like the Scythe for higher damage output.
Can I use a shield with a Katana or Greatsword?
No, both the Katana and Greatsword lock your off-hand, so you cannot equip a shield while wielding them. Plan your loadout accordingly if you want shield defense.
What's the difference between Frostbite and Freeze enchantments?
Frostbite is a melee enchantment that applies the Frostbite status effect when you hit enemies with a weapon. Freeze is a bow enchantment that applies the same effect to your arrows instead.
Why can't I combine Fire Aspect with Withering, Frostbite, or Polluting?
These enchantments are mutually exclusive because they apply different status effects that would conflict with each other. You must choose one damage type enhancement per weapon.
How do I use the
Chain Crossbow?
The
Chain Crossbow loads up to four arrows at once instead of one. Pull back to load multiple arrows, then release to fire them in a quick burst for rapid damage output.

When you hit an enemy holding a shield with a Hammer, it stuns their shield temporarily, interrupting their defense. This makes Hammers particularly effective against shielded opponents.
Are Heavy Arrows worth using over normal arrows?
Heavy Arrows deal more base damage but have reduced range, so they're best for close-to-medium distance combat. Use them when you know you'll be fighting nearby rather than from far away.
What happens if I use Dynamite Arrows?
Dynamite Arrows explode on impact, dealing area damage to all nearby mobs and blocks. They can only be used with crossbows and cause extra durability damage to the crossbow itself.
How does the Leech enchantment on shields work?
When you block damage with a Leech-enchanted shield, you heal a small amount of health. The trade-off is that the shield takes extra durability damage each time you block.
Should I use a Longsword or Greatsword for boss fights?
The Greatsword deals significantly more damage but is much slower, making it risky if you need to dodge frequently. Use a Longsword for more consistent damage output with better mobility, or the Greatsword if you can time your swings between boss attacks.
