How to Read the Wawla HUD Overlay and Understand What Each Line Means

What the overlay shows

Wawla extends the vanilla tooltip-style HUD that appears when you look at a block or entity. Instead of just the block name, you get extra lines underneath it. The exact set of lines depends on what you are looking at and which modules are enabled in the config, but the common categories are: the block or entity name, its registry/mod ID, hardness or blast resistance for blocks, and for entities things like health, armor, and the item it is holding.

Reading it in practice

Point your crosshair at a block and hold still for a moment. The name line is the top one; everything below is supplementary. For entities, look directly at the mob — the overlay updates as your target changes, so sweeping your view across a pen of animals will cycle the readout.

If a line you expect is missing, it is almost always a config toggle rather than a bug. Open the Wawla config and check the per-category options (blocks, entities, and the individual data fields). Some fields only appear when relevant — for example, an entity holding nothing will not show a held-item line.

Tips

  • The overlay only renders for the block or entity your crosshair is actually on, not for things behind it.
  • If the text is hard to read against bright terrain, adjust the HUD background/opacity options in the config rather than your GUI scale.
