Reduce Lag from Distant Mobs

Enable Mob AI Freezing

Locate the ["Mob Blocking AiLod Settings"] section in your configuration. Set enableMobBlockingAiLod = true if it isn't already enabled. This feature freezes mob AI calculations for creatures far from your player.

Adjust Distance Thresholds

Two distance settings control when mobs stop processing:

  • mobBlockingYDistance — vertical distance (up/down) in blocks
  • mobBlockingXDistance — horizontal distance (forward/back/left/right) in blocks

Lower values freeze mobs sooner, saving more performance but potentially affecting gameplay. Higher values keep distant mobs active longer.

Exclude Boss Mobs

Boss mobs like the Ender Dragon and Wither are automatically excluded from AI freezing. If you want other mobs to always stay active, add them to mobBlockingYIgnoredMobs or mobBlockingXIgnoredMobs.

Save and Test

Restart your game to apply changes. Explore far from your base and notice reduced stuttering when many mobs are present.
