Ultimate Time Stop FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I craft my first pocket watch?
Start by crafting the Copper Chronometer, which is the beginner-tier watch and requires basic materials. Once you have it, hold the watch and press Shift + Right-Click to open the mode selection wheel, then choose Slow Motion or Fast Forward to begin experimenting with time manipulation.
What's the difference between Time Stop and Matrix mode?
Time Stop freezes everything in the world including mobs, arrows, and liquids while you move freely and can punch suspended targets. Matrix mode slows the environment to a quarter speed while you move and attack at full speed, letting you react to threats in real-time without a complete pause.
Why isn't my rune working after I placed it?
Make sure you're holding the correct watch tier—not all runes work on all watches. The Copper Chronometer has no rune slots, the Gilded Chronos Watch has one slot, and higher tiers have more. Sneak and Right-Click to place the rune into an available socket on your equipped watch.
How do I get my captured projectiles back?
Press R while holding your watch to release any projectiles you've captured with the
Rune of Snatching—they'll orbit around you until you release them. You can also press G to swap positions with a targeted mob if you have the

Time Stop freezes all standard mobs and projectiles, but some boss-tier entities may have partial or full immunity to time manipulation depending on the boss mod and compatibility settings. Test it in your world to see how specific bosses respond.
What watch should I upgrade to after the Copper Chronometer?
Upgrade to the Gilded Chronos Watch for your first rune socket and passive projectile dodging, which makes surviving archer attacks much easier. Once you want full time freezing and Matrix mode, craft the Diamond Chronos Watch.
Can I use multiple runes on the same watch?
Yes, if your watch has multiple rune sockets—the Gilded Chronos Watch has one, while the Diamond and Netherite tiers have more. You can mix and match runes to create different playstyles.
Why does my cooldown feel so long?
Cooldown length depends on your watch tier—the Copper Chronometer has the longest cooldown, while the Netherite Chronos Sovereign has a quick six-second cooldown. Upgrading to a higher-tier watch will significantly reduce wait times between uses.
Does SUPERHOT mode actually pause when I stand still?
Yes, SUPERHOT mode pauses the world whenever you stop moving and resumes the moment you move again, creating a tactical slow-motion experience. This mode requires the Diamond Chronos Watch or higher.
Can I use time modes underwater or in the Nether?
All time modes work underwater, but the Netherite Chronos Sovereign is the only fireproof watch, making it the safest choice for extended Nether exploration. Other watches will take fire damage in the Nether even while time manipulation is active.
