Surviving Your First Night in a Lost City
The Lost City is hostile from the moment you arrive: ruined buildings, dark interiors, and mobs that spawn in the shadows. Your first priority is shelter and light, not loot.
Find or make shelter fast
Head for the nearest intact building and get inside before nightfall. Broken windows and collapsed floors mean mobs can reach you, so block off entrances with whatever blocks you have. If no building is safe, dig into the ground or a hillside and seal yourself in.
Light and defend your space
Place torches or other light sources liberally. Dark corners spawn mobs, and the city has plenty of them. Light the room you sleep in and the hallway outside it. Keep a weapon and shield ready even indoors.
What to avoid early
- Don't wander into deep basements or subway tunnels on day one.
- Don't break into every building looking for loot; pick one and secure it.
- Watch for holes in floors and ceilings that drop you into mob-filled lower levels.
Once you have a lit, sealed base, you can start exploring outward in short trips and return before dark.
