Navigating the City Without Getting Lost
Lost City terrain is procedurally generated, so every world looks different and landmarks are easy to confuse. A little preparation keeps you from wandering for hours.
Set up navigation tools
Before exploring, establish a home base and mark it clearly. Use torches, colored blocks, or signs to create a trail. Note your base coordinates and check them often. If you have a map mod or in-game map item, use it, but don't rely on it alone.
Read the city layout
Cities tend to follow a grid of streets with taller buildings downtown and lower structures on the edges. Highways and overpasses cut across the grid and make good reference lines. Pick a tall, distinctive building as a landmark and navigate relative to it.
Avoid common mistakes
- Don't enter a building from one side and exit the other without noting which way you came.
- Don't follow roads blindly; they can loop or dead-end.
- Don't explore at night unless you're geared for it.
If you do get lost
Climb to a high point and look for your landmark or base. Always carry enough
blocks and light to make a safe camp.
