Finding Loot in Abandoned Buildings and Highways
The main draw of the Lost City is loot. Chests and containers are scattered through buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure, but the best rewards are usually in the most dangerous places.
Where to look
- Office buildings and apartments: check every floor, especially desks and storage rooms.
- Ground-level shops and storefronts: often have food, tools, and general supplies.
- Highways and overpasses: abandoned vehicles frequently contain loot.
- Basements, parking garages, and subway areas: high risk, high reward.
How to loot efficiently
Move through a building floor by floor and clear each room before opening containers. Bring empty inventory space and a way to mark your path so you don't get lost in identical corridors. Break into locked or blocked areas only when you have the tools and light to handle what's inside.
Staying alive while looting
- Light rooms as you go so mobs don't spawn behind you.
- Never loot with your back to an open doorway.
- Retreat to your base when your inventory is full rather than pushing deeper.
Loot respawns are not guaranteed, so treat each building as a one-time haul and plan routes accordingly.
