Stop Bleeding Before It Kills You

Recognize the Bleeding Status

When you take physical damage, you have a chance to enter a bleeding state. You'll see a blood overlay appear on your screen and a bleeding status effect icon in your inventory. Once active, bleeding slowly drains your health over 10 seconds. Unlike poison or other effects, drinking milk will not cure bleeding—you must use a medical bandage instead.

Apply a Bandage Quickly

1. Craft a medical bandage using paper and wool (see crafting guide if needed)

2. Hold the bandage in your hand

3. Press and hold Right Mouse Button

4. Keep holding for exactly 2 seconds while the application animation plays

5. Release when the animation completes

If you release the button before 2 seconds pass, the bandage application cancels and you waste the item.

Prevention Tips

Since bleeding is triggered by physical damage, reduce unnecessary combat. Wear armor to reduce damage taken, and keep bandages in your hotbar during dangerous activities like mining or fighting mobs. The faster you apply a bandage after bleeding starts, the less health you'll lose.
