Tactical Armory Skins FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the skin armory?
Press K while holding any firearm or with an empty hand to open the full Skin Armory menu. You can also use the command /mcpskins armory to open it from anywhere.
Can I use skins on attachments like scopes and grips?
Yes, the mod supports custom skins for firearm attachments including scopes, grips, muzzle devices, and other TACZ attachment types. Apply attachment skins the same way you apply weapon skins through the Armory or refit screen.
Do skins change how my gun performs in combat?
No, skins are purely cosmetic and do not affect weapon damage, accuracy, fire rate, or any other base stats. Your gun performs identically whether you use a skin or not.
What happens to my skins when I die?
Your unlocked skins are stored on the server and persist through death and respawns, so you'll never lose your collection. Physical skin unlock items will drop with your inventory like normal items unless the server has keepInventory enabled.
How do I get higher rarity skins from duplicates?
Hold a stack of duplicate skin unlock items and shift-right-click to fuse them into a higher-tier version of that skin. The mod will combine the duplicates into a rarer unlock automatically.
Can I trade skins with other players?
Yes, you can trade physical skin unlock items by dropping them or placing them in chests for other players to pick up. The skin unlocks themselves are account-bound, but the physical items are tradeable.
Do I need to install a resource pack to see skins?
No, the mod streams all skin textures and 3D models directly from the server, so clients don't need separate resource packs installed.
How do I quickly swap between skins on my equipped gun?
Open the standard TACZ weapon refit screen and use the compact skin carousel tray to browse and equip skins without opening the full Armory menu.
Can I search or filter skins in the Armory?
Yes, the full Skin Armory includes search filters and sorting options to help you find specific skins in your collection.
Do skins work with shader mods?
Yes, the mod includes LabPBR normal and specular map support, so skins will render correctly with shader mods that support advanced lighting.
