Stuff N Things FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start using this mod?
Craft or find a Chisel tool, then start placing stackable layers on any block that supports them—they work just like snow layers. You can stack up to eight layers high to create custom heights for your builds.
Can I stack layers on every block?
Almost every block can have layers added to it, but some blocks like liquids or entities won't support stacking. The mod respects each material's original properties, so ice layers will still be slippery and honey will still slow you down.
How do I remove just one layer without breaking the whole stack?
Sneak and right-click with the Chisel tool to safely remove exactly one layer at a time. This works the same way for removing one half of a double slab.
What's the point of upside-down dirt stairs?
Upside-down dirt and grass stairs have a flat top surface that acts like farmland, so you can plant crops directly on them to build terraced gardens without needing to till the ground first.
How do I make colored light blocks?
Place stained glass and glow ink sacs together in a crafting table to create colored light blocks in 16 different colors. You can toggle them on and off using redstone signals.
Can I cut layers and slabs with the stonecutter?
Yes, you can use a normal stonecutter to cut layers, slabs, and stairs just like you would with regular stone blocks.
Do I need Create Mod for this mod to work?
No, the mod works on its own. Create Mod recipes are optional and only appear if you have Create Mod installed alongside Stuff 'N' Things.
Can I make paths and farmland from dirt layers?
Yes—use a normal shovel on dirt shapes to create paths, or use a hoe on them to turn them into farmland for planting crops.
What happens if I use a regular pickaxe on a stacked layer?
A regular pickaxe will break the entire stack at once. Use the Chisel tool instead if you want to remove layers one at a time.
Are there renewable resources added by this mod?
If you have Create Mod installed, you can use optional recipes to create renewable coal from dead bushes and renewable diamonds from compressed coal blocks using lava and heat.
