Simply Bows FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Where do I find the new bows?
Search chests scattered throughout the world—dungeons, temples, villages, and other loot structures have a chance to contain Simply Bows weapons. You can also find upgrade parts and runes in the same chests.
How do I upgrade a bow?
Place your bow and an upgrade item (enchanted bow string or reinforced bow frame) together in an anvil. The upgrade will be applied permanently, so choose your parts carefully since you can't remove them later.
What's the difference between strings and frames?
Enchanted bow strings and reinforced bow frames are different upgrade types that each modify your bow's performance in unique ways. You can apply both types to the same bow for combined effects.
How do runes work?
Runes change your bow's main ability and are applied at an anvil like upgrades. Unlike strings and frames, you can replace a rune with a different one if you want to try a new effect.
How many different bow combinations can I make?
Each bow can hold one of four specific runes, creating up to 28 different power combinations across all the unique bows in the mod.
How do I see what an upgrade does before applying it?
Hold Alt while hovering over a bow in your inventory to view its stats and see exactly what each upgrade or rune will do.
Can I change my bow's upgrades later?
You can replace runes with new ones at an anvil, but enchanted strings and reinforced frames are permanent once applied—plan your upgrades carefully.
Do different bows have different abilities?
Yes, each of the seven unique bows has its own special ability, and you can further customize that ability by applying different runes to it.
What's the best bow for PvE vs PvP?
This depends on your playstyle and the rune combinations you choose—experiment with different bows and runes to find which special abilities work best for your preferred combat style.
Do I need specific tools or materials to upgrade bows?
You only need an anvil and the upgrade items themselves (strings, frames, or runes) found in chests—no crafting or special materials required.
