Once you have a machine crafted, place it on flat ground and you're ready to use it.What's the difference between a catapult and a ballista?
Catapults fire projectiles in a curved arc and are better for hitting targets behind walls or at varying distances. Ballistae shoot arrows in a straight line for precise, direct hits on specific targets.
How do I aim and fire a catapult?
Use W, A, S, and D to rotate and position the catapult, then hold Right-Click to see the trajectory line showing where your shot will land. Press Space to load and fire when you're ready.
What projectiles can I use and what do they do?
Cobblestone deals heavy damage to a single target, cobble clusters scatter multiple smaller rocks on impact, fire pots ignite large areas, and explosive pots detonate like TNT to destroy blocks and damage mobs.
My siege weapon is broken. How do I fix it?
Right-click your damaged machine with iron nuggets and wooden planks to repair it. The exact amounts needed depend on the damage level, but these are the only materials required.
Can I change how the mod works?
Yes, open the configuration file at saves/world/serverconfig/siegeweapons.toml to adjust machine settings and behavior for your world.
Why won't my catapult fire?
Make sure you've pressed Space to load the weapon first—you need to load before you can shoot. Also check that you have projectiles available and the machine isn't damaged.
How do I use the ballista's aiming mode?
Right-click on the ballista to enter its special aiming mode, which lets you line up precise shots on distant targets more accurately than the catapult's arc.
Can I use siege weapons to defend my base?
Yes, siege weapons work great for defense—place them on walls or high ground, and use them to target approaching mobs or players from a distance.
Do siege weapons damage my own structures?
Explosive pots and other projectiles will break blocks and damage entities they hit, so be careful where you aim to avoid destroying your own builds or hurting allies.
