Shinier Tools Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why do my tools look the same after installing the pack?
Resource packs need to be activated in your world settings. Open your world, go to Resource Packs, find Shinier Tools in the Available list, and move it to the Active column. You'll see the shiny textures the next time you load in.
Do the shiny textures affect how tools perform?
No, this is purely visual. The pack only changes the appearance of item icons in your inventory and hotbar—it doesn't alter durability, damage, mining speed, or any gameplay mechanics.
Why does my netherite gear still look dark and flat?
The pack intentionally leaves netherite equipment unchanged to preserve its original vanilla aesthetic. Only wooden, stone, iron, gold, and diamond tiers receive the shiny polish effect.
Can I use this pack with other resource packs?
Yes, but pack order matters. Place Shinier Tools higher in your Active list if you want its textures to take priority, or lower if you want another pack's tool textures to override it.
Do the shiny textures show up in item frames and on the ground?
Yes, the glossy highlights appear whenever tools and armor are displayed as items—in frames, on the ground, or in your hotbar. They're most noticeable when items are lying down or mounted in frames.
Will this pack work with my modded tools and armor?
Only if those mod items use vanilla texture paths. Custom mod gear with unique textures won't be affected by this pack since it only repaints the default equipment tiers.
Does this pack work in multiplayer?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use Shinier Tools on any server without affecting other players or requiring server installation.
Why do some of my tools look shinier than others?
Different tool tiers receive different levels of polish based on their material—diamond and gold get the brightest highlights, while stone and wood receive more subtle adjustments to stay true to their appearance.
Can I remove the shiny effect from just one tier of tools?
Not without editing the pack files yourself. The pack applies its effect to all supported tiers as a complete set, though you can always disable it entirely and re-enable it when you want the shiny look.
Does this pack cause lag or performance issues?
No, resource packs have minimal performance impact since they only change textures. You won't notice any FPS drops from using Shinier Tools.
