Why It Usually Just Works

The mod applies its color as a separate overlay layer instead of editing or replacing the shield texture. That design choice is the reason it stays compatible with resource packs: your pack supplies the shield art, and the mod only adds a tint on top of it. You do not need a pack-specific patch or a special version of the mod.

Checking Compatibility After a Pack Change

After enabling a new resource pack, load into a world and raise your shield. Confirm you can still see the enabled tint, then let the shield get disabled and confirm the disabled tint appears. If a pack uses very dark or very saturated shield art, the overlay can become hard to distinguish — this is a color contrast issue, not a broken mod.

Fixing Contrast Problems

Open the mod config and pick overlay colors that stand out against your pack's shield texture. Light, high-contrast tints tend to read well over dark shield art, while darker tints read better over bright art. Test both states again after changing colors. If you run several packs, choose a color pair that stays visible across all of them rather than tuning for one pack only.
