Getting Started with the Handheld 
Scanner
The handheld scanner is your primary tool for detecting ores, mobs, and structures. You'll need to craft it using materials available in early-game progression—check your crafting menu or JEI for the exact recipe.
Power and Energy Management
Once crafted, your scanner holds up to 20,000 FE of power. It won't function without energy, so connect it to a power source:
1. Place your scanner in a crafting grid or equipment slot
2. Use a charger block or power conduit from your mod pack's power generation system
3. Hold the scanner and right-click to activate a scan wave
4. Watch your FE bar deplete with each use
Early power sources like furnace generators or basic solar panels work well. Keep spare scanners or a portable charger nearby for extended mining trips. The larger battery means fewer trips back to base compared to older versions of the mod.
