Royal Variations FAQ
20 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do Royal Mobs spawn naturally or do I need to do something special?
Royal Mobs spawn naturally in the world just like vanilla mobs, but they're rarer encounters. You'll find them mixed in with regular mob spawns as you explore, so there's no special setup required—just keep playing and you'll eventually run into them.
What's the best way to fight a Royal Zombie without getting overwhelmed?
Focus on eliminating the Royal Zombie before it can equip nearby zombies with armor and weapons. Use ranged attacks to keep distance, and try to separate it from regular zombies so it can't buff them—the Chosen Victim effect makes all undead nearby faster and stronger, so isolation is key.
How do I avoid getting headshot by a Royal Skeleton?
Keep moving unpredictably and use cover to block line of sight whenever possible. Royal Skeletons deal extra knockback on headshots and will illuminate you through blocks, so staying behind solid terrain and moving erratically makes you a harder target.
What happens if I kill a Royal Creeper before it explodes?
If you defeat it before detonation, the toxic spores only affect monsters in the immediate area rather than spreading widely. This is actually beneficial since the spores poison and slow players but boost nearby hostile mobs, so a pre-explosion kill limits the debuff zone.
Are Royal Mob drops different from regular mob drops?
Yes, Royal Mobs offer exclusive drops and increased loot compared to vanilla mobs, making them worth hunting. They also grant more XP, so defeating them is rewarding for both progression and equipment.
Can I farm Royal Mobs in a mob grinder?
Royal Mobs spawn naturally like regular mobs, so they can appear in mob farms, but their rarity means you shouldn't rely on farms for consistent Royal Mob encounters. Building near spawning areas and exploring actively will give you better chances.
Does the Royal Skeleton's knockback make it impossible to melee?
Melee is still viable but risky—the Royal Skeleton jumps back when attacked, so you'll need to close distance repeatedly. Using knockback resistance potions or armor enchantments can help mitigate the knockback effect.
What should I do if I get hit by toxic spores from a Royal Creeper?
You'll suffer poison and slowness effects, so distance yourself from the Royal Creeper and any other hostile mobs in the area. Milk or healing potions can cleanse the poison, and moving to a safe location gives you time to recover.
Is this mod compatible with other mob mods?
Royal Variations is designed as a compact mod that enhances vanilla mobs without overwhelming the game, so it generally plays well with other mods, but compatibility depends on what other mods you're using—test your modpack to be sure.
Do Royal Mobs make the game significantly harder?
They add challenge through their enhanced abilities and exclusive mechanics, but they're still rare enough that they won't dominate your survival experience. You'll encounter them as exciting encounters rather than constant threats.
