Rocks Done Right FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why do I see different stone types in different biomes?
Rocks Done Right Mod generates stone based on your biome's climate and depth. Surface layers match local geology (limestone under forests, shale under oceans), and deeper layers transform into metamorphic rocks from heat and pressure.
How do I find granite and gabbro?
These intrusive rocks spawn in large pockets deep underground and naturally bake surrounding stone into new metamorphic types. Look for them in mountainous or volcanic areas, and mine around them to collect the transformed stone nearby.
What happened to regular stone? Why are block names different?
The mod renames familiar blocks to their real geological names—for example, Stone becomes Carbonaceous Limestone. This is intentional and helps you identify which rock type you're mining based on your location and depth.
How do I craft concrete now?
Concrete now requires quicklime instead of just sand and gravel. You must craft or find quicklime first, then use it in the concrete recipe alongside the other ingredients.
Where should I look for gems like citrine and prasiolite?
These gems spawn inside deep underground geodes, so you'll need to dig deep and explore caves to find the geode structures. They're more common in certain rock formations, particularly in metamorphic layers.
Why do ocean floors look different now?
Ocean floors now generate realistic layers of clay, shale, and ooze instead of plain sand and gravel. This makes underwater exploration more varied and gives you access to different stone types you won't find on land.
What are topsoil and subsoil, and why should I care?
Topsoil is the surface layer that varies by biome (forest topsoil differs from jungle topsoil), while subsoil sits beneath it and includes materials like peat and clay. They replace standard dirt and affect what you can farm or build with.
Do mountains generate differently with this mod?
Yes—mountains now contain realistic layers like packed ice, schist, and slate instead of uniform stone. This makes mining in mountains more interesting and gives you access to metamorphic rocks you won't find elsewhere.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod changes world generation significantly, so chunk loading may take slightly longer on older systems. Performance impact is generally minimal during normal gameplay, but generating new chunks in mountainous or volcanic areas may be slower than vanilla.
Are there new volcanic biomes I should explore?
Yes, the mod adds volcanic mountain biomes near steep ocean cliffs filled with dark igneous rocks like rhyolite and gabbro. These are worth exploring for unique stone types and geodes you won't find in regular mountains.
