How to Fix Wood That Looks Wrong or Too Busy After Installing the Pack
If your existing builds suddenly look noisy or mismatched after enabling Realistic Woods, the problem is usually density, not the pack itself. The added grain means surfaces that were fine with flat textures now have visual weight.
Reduce Texture Density
- Replace some plank walls with a smoother material, or swap a section to a lower-contrast wood species.
- Remove decorative wood blocks that were only there to fill space. With detailed textures, empty wall is often better than
cluttered wall. - If a floor looks busy, switch it to a single species and keep the variation on the walls instead.
Fix Grain Direction Problems
- Log
blocks show end grain on their top and bottom faces. Never use log tops as a floor or ceiling surface unless you want a cut-wood look. - Stripped logs show a cleaner side grain. Use them where you want length without the bark texture.
- Planks always read as horizontal boards. If you want a vertical look, use a different block rather than trying to rotate planks.
Check Resource Pack Order
If only some
blocks changed, another resource pack is overriding Realistic Woods. Move it to the top of your active pack list and reload. If textures still look unchanged, confirm the pack is actually enabled rather than merely downloaded.
