How the Lighting System Operates
The mod's real-time colored lighting is completely independent of Minecraft's vanilla block light levels. This means that even though your spells cast bright light across the terrain, mobs will still spawn according to normal darkness rules—the mod doesn't artificially raise light levels for spawning calculations.
You can cast spells to illuminate an area for visibility and atmosphere without accidentally preventing hostile mobs from spawning in nearby dark caves or structures.
Compatibility with Existing Mechanics
Because the lighting is rendered separately from world geometry, it doesn't interfere with redstone contraptions, mob farms, or any mechanics that depend on actual block light values. The shadows and light are purely visual effects.
This design also means the mod works smoothly alongside shader packs—Iris and Oculus won't conflict with the spell lighting system. You get the best of both worlds: cosmic spell effects with independent lighting, plus shader enhancements if you choose to use them.
