This enables floating combat damage numbers that appear above entities you attack. The numbers will hover above your targets and show the damage dealt by your spells and weapons.

Understand Merged Damage Totals

When you hit a target multiple times in quick succession, the mod merges the individual damage values into a single floating number. This keeps your screen uncluttered and makes it easier to see your total damage output at a glance.

The floating numbers disappear after a short time, so you can focus on combat without visual spam. If you want to disable this feature later, type /lightpollution damage off in chat. You can toggle this setting on and off at any time without restarting your world.
